15 minutes!

Thanks to an anonymous tip (ok ok, so i told them), the guys at www.suck.com now have a little blurb about this page (and a pointer--thanks guys!).

And i'm told (ok ok, they called me), that somebody at www.delphi.com saw the www.suck.com article and they've also written up an article about this little goof. ("...one of [the Net's] folk heroes"? Oy vey...but thanks guys!)

And hey...i wrote to Pathfinder. They replied! Here's a copy of our correspondence.

Other press: Newsday, a New York daily newspaper that is based in Long Island (and now owned by the Los Angeles Times) reportedly did a story on this page. The article was ran on October 10. i will eventually get a copy, and when i do, you'll see it here.

i got a note from the editor of CyberSurfer Magazine, letting me know that they'll be doing an article on this page in their next issue (#5).

On 10/25/95, Andrew Brenner, proprietor of The Brenner Home World dropped me a note to let me know that this page had been chosen as Brenner's Cool Site of the Week for the week ending 10/29/95.

Oh, i installed a new version of httpd (NCSA's v.1.4) and now we've got a referer log! This has helped me find the following links:

• On 10/16/95, (Chris) Stamper's News Nuggets, a feature of (oh dear) a conservative Web site known as The Right Side of The Web made mention of this page.
• A site known as The Daily Muse declared this page "Muse of the Day".
• Oh no!! Somebody on Prodigy has a link to this page! Well, we knew it would happen sooner or later. The page is known as YuMmY ChArCoAl. Whatever.
• And America Online too!? Yikes! Craig Cepler, apparently a friend of the guy who does YuMmY ChArCoAl has a link from his now very real (with HTML and everything!) web page.
• Washington Technology Online has a link to me. Hm, supposedly you're supposed to pay for subscriptions to this, but here's the link.

The December 1995 issue of NetGuide has a blurb about my discovery (page 22). BUT they didn't list my URL! [i'm quite surprised, considering it's supposed to be a NetGuide (snicker), but then again, maybe it's a good thing... My server is still up.]

Hmmmph. Oh well, here's a scan of the article. Say...doesn't "gaff" have an "e" at the end? It does when it's used in the sense of a "social blunder." But maybe they meant it in terms of "something painful or difficult to bear. Syn: ordeal." Hey NetGuide...need an editor? >:-}

On December 4, Media Central ran an article about the Nick Leeson trial in Singapore, and its similarities to the OJ trial. And hey, they mentioned my site. How nice.

Back in October, a guy i met over CU, Martin, said that he had mentioned my OJ page in the November 1995 issue of the Swedish MacWorld (he's an editor there). Here's a screen shot of the article that Martin finally sent me. >:}
